Takes ordinary ribbons rather than proprietary ones
Little help to be found online for it
Sbarco is not a name anybody in our trade recognises, which is exactly why it cost what it did. It has printed our jar labels for five months without a single misfeed, and it takes ordinary 110mm ribbons rather than anything proprietary!

Metal where it matters
The driver takes some finding online
Ordered as a cheaper alternative to the obvious brand and so far there are no regrets. The build is metal where it counts, the holder takes a full 300m ribbon, and the print at 300dpi is easily good enough for the small text on our chemical labels. The driver was the only wrinkle. The disc is useless and the download had to be tracked down on a distributor's site rather than the manufacturer's own

Six hundred labels on a market day without breaking sweat
Alignment after a roll change takes learning
We print about six hundred labels on a busy day for a market stall and this keeps up without getting hot or slowing down. Labels come off dark and even, which matters when the barcode is scanned by whatever the customer happens to be holding. What I would tell anybody considering one: the alignment after a roll change wants doing by hand the first few times, until you learn where the sensor likes the gap. After that it is a ten-second job and you stop thinking about it!
