Return to HomeAbout this policy
This Cookies Policy explains how Steelstorm — a trading name of Wayne Enterprise Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 00000000), with its registered office at 221b Baker Street, London A00 0AA — uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly, and it reflects our obligations under UK data protection law and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device so that it can work and remember information between one request and the next — without them, a shop would forget your cart the moment you opened another page. Some last only for your visit and are cleared when you close the browser (session cookies); others remain for a set period (persistent cookies). UK law treats other forms of device storage, such as local storage, in the same way, and we do not rely on those beyond the cookies listed below.
How we use cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum, and the test we apply is simple: does the store break, or become annoying to use, without it? We use them to sign you in and keep your session secure, to hold the cart you are filling, and to remember two choices that make coming back easier. We do not use cookies to advertise to you, to build a profile of you, or to follow you across other websites — not because we have not got round to it, but because we have decided not to.
Cookies we use
Every cookie the store sets is listed here, with what it does and how long it lasts:
Strictly necessary
- sb_session — keeps you signed in and your session secure. Lasts for the duration of your session.
- sb_cart — holds the cart and wishlist you build, so they survive a page load and a return visit. Persistent, up to 30 days.
- sb_csrf — protects the forms you submit from cross-site request forgery. Lasts for the duration of your session.
Functional (non-essential)
- sb_ccy — remembers the display currency you pick in the header, so prices stay in pounds, dollars or euros as you left them. Persistent, up to 12 months.
- sb_region — remembers your delivery region, so shipping options and prices do not reset on every visit. Persistent, up to 12 months.
What we do not use
We use no performance or analytics cookies, no advertising or targeting cookies, and no social-media cookies. Nothing on this site reports your visit to anybody else. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting any such cookie — asking afterwards is not consent, and a pre-ticked box is not consent either.
Third-party cookies
We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics, so we set no third-party tracking cookies at all. If we add an essential third-party service in future — a payment provider, for instance, when real-money payments go live — we will update this policy before that service is switched on, and we will say plainly what it sets and why.
Managing cookies
You can view, control and delete cookies through your browser settings; the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge each explain how, including how to remove the functional cookies listed above and how to block cookies before they are set. Be aware that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in, and will empty your cart every time you move between pages — the store will technically load, but it will not be usable.
Consent
Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under PECR — they are required to provide the service you asked for. The two functional cookies above are set only when you make the choice they remember, by picking a currency or a delivery region, and you can clear them from your browser whenever you like.
Because we use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, we do not operate a consent banner: there would be nothing for it to ask you about, and a banner that exists only to be dismissed is a tax on your attention rather than a protection of your rights. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies of that kind, we will ask for your consent before they are set, and refusing will not cost you access to the store.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time — most likely when the store gains a feature that needs to remember something new. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date, and any new non-essential cookie will be described here before it is ever set.
