Compact, cold, and the fans stop at the desktop
8GB rather than the 16GB version, which is the one to want
Went into a compact build where a triple-fan card would not go, and the two-fan cooler has been better than expected. The core holds 63C under a long 1080p session with the hotspot around 74C, and there is no coil whine at all. The frame buffer is the compromise. At 1080p it is fine today, and the 16GB variant is the one I would buy if the budget allowed, because the chip is quicker than 8GB really lets it show.
Used for: 3–6 months
Quiet, cool, and no extra cables needed
8GB limits it at 1440p
Single 8-pin and a short board meant it dropped into an old prebuilt without touching anything else. Very quiet under load. At 1080p it is quick, at 1440p the memory starts to complain!
Used for: 6–12 months
Cool, quiet and completely stable
The 8GB buffer is why it is not five stars
No faults at all, drivers have been uneventful and the card sits in the low sixties with fans that stop below 50C. What holds it back is memory, because at 1440p the frame times spike once the buffer fills and there is nothing to be done about it except drop textures.
