The panel is the underrated part. Bright, quick, and good enough that the external monitor has been unplugged and put in a cupboard, which was not the plan when I bought it. Four months in the only thing I have learned is which profile to use when. Performance for a demanding game with headphones on, balanced for everything else, and the difference on screen between them is far smaller than the difference in noise.

Most evenings and a fair few weekends, and nothing has come close to making it struggle. Everything runs at the top settings, the frame rate stays where it should, and eight months in it has never once dropped clocks partway through. What I did not expect is how well it does the boring things. It is quiet on the balanced profile, the screen is good enough for photo work, and it drives two external monitors from the back without an adapter.

Came from a much thinner gaming laptop that spent its life throttling, and the difference is not subtle. Same class of chip, and this one holds its clocks for a three hour session because there is somewhere for the heat to go. It is bigger and heavier for it, obviously, and the fans on the top profile are loud. Balanced is quiet enough for the room and gives up very little, so that is where it lives!

Bought as a gaming machine and it has quietly become the work machine as well, largely because of the keyboard. Proper travel, no flex in the middle, and the layout does not put anything in a stupid place. Four stars only because it gives about 90 minutes away from a socket, which is short even by gaming laptop standards, and I have stopped pretending it is portable.

A considered opinion now, rather than the excitement of the first week, after ten months of heavy use. It is quick and it stays quick, which is the main thing and the reason for four stars rather than three. The cooling genuinely works, temperatures sit around 74 degrees under a long session, and there has been no sign of the gradual slowdown my last two gaming laptops developed. What I would tell a buyer is that this is a desktop. The battery does about two hours of nothing much, the charger weighs as much as a thin laptop, and the whole assembly needs a rucksack rather than a bag. Bought with that understanding it is excellent value. Bought expecting a portable machine it will disappoint.

The software that manages the fans is a mess

No complaints about the hardware at all, which makes it more annoying that the bundled software is the thing I interact with most. Changing a fan profile means waiting for an application that takes its time to open, then finding the setting has moved, and it has nagged me about an account twice. The machine underneath is excellent. It holds 120 frames a second at high settings without breaking a sweat, it stays cool where my hands are, and the keyboard is far better than I expected. I just wish the profiles were on a key combination and nothing else.
