    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Adoption and VLAN work take minutes rather than an evening

    Cons

Fan noise under a heavy PoE load

    Comment

Came from a rack of three different brands, each with its own web interface and its own idea of what a VLAN tag meant, so the single pane of glass is really the whole reason for buying into this. Every port, every device, every bit of PoE draw sits on one page, and when something misbehaves you can see which port it is on before you have finished reading the alert. The fans are the compromise. Idle it is a soft hum you would not notice behind a door. Loaded up with cameras it becomes a proper whirr, and it does not settle back down for a good while after the load drops. Ours is in a comms cupboard so it genuinely does not matter, but I would think twice about a studio or a desk. Nine months of solid uptime otherwise!

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

One console for the whole estate instead of four web interfaces

    Cons

Runs warm enough that you want to give up a rack slot above it

    Comment

The rack it replaced had four switches in it from three vendors, each with its own idea of how a trunk port should behave, and consolidating on this has saved more evenings than I care to add up. Two things keep it off five stars. The first is heat: it runs warm even at rest and the top of the case is not somewhere you want to leave a hand, so mine has a 1U gap above it now that was never in my plan for the rack. The second is that firmware updates on a switch carrying every camera and phone in the building are a nerve-wracking business, and there is no way to stage one and back out gracefully. Well over a year in it has never actually gone wrong, so that is caution talking rather than experience.

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Every port is ten gig and the console adopted it instantly

    Cons

Heavy enough that you want a second pair of hands for the rails

    Comment

Not one dropped link since it went in, four months back

  • FMFlorence M.16 July 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

Ten gig everywhere without having to think about it

    Comment

The jump up from a gigabit stack is not subtle, the NAS saturates a copy now!

  • TBTheo B.8 July 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Ten gig on every single port

    Cons

You will hear it if it lives in the room with you

    Comment

Loud in a small room, faultless everywhere else!

  • GCGeorge C.29 June 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

It has carried our whole camera estate without a hiccup

    Comment

Bought to replace a pair of stacked gigabit switches that were falling over every time the cameras did a firmware push. This has swallowed the lot: 20-odd PoE devices, four uplinks and the office wired network, and the traffic graphs are the first thing I look at each morning. The reason it is four stars and not five is the PoE budget. It sounds generous until you add a dozen cameras with heaters in them, and then you are doing arithmetic before you plug anything else in. Eight months in I have two spare ports I cannot actually power, which is an odd place to end up.

    Pros

Straight into the rack and it adopted itself

    Comment

Plugged in, adopted, done, and the whole rack is one page now

  • JFJack F.26 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

As a switch it has been completely faultless

    Comment

Three stars is about the price and the noise, not the switching. As a switch it has been faultless: every port runs at ten gig, the cameras and the ceiling access points all power up off it, and the throughput to the NAS is exactly what the label promises. What nobody warns you about is the racket. Put 14 PoE devices on it and the fans spin up and stay up, and in a small office that is a constant hiss you cannot ignore. Mine ended up moved into a cupboard on the landing with a vent cut into the door, which was not the plan when I bought it. At this money I expected a quieter machine.

  • MCMaya C.19 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Powers everything we own off a single box

    Cons

The rails feel like an afterthought at this price

    Comment

Mounting it was the only bad hour. The supplied ears are fine but the rails feel like they came off a much cheaper product, and on a switch this heavy you notice. Once it was in, though, everything else was a pleasure: adoption in a couple of clicks, PoE priorities set per port, and the door entry controller finally has a sensible home. Five months and no drops!

  • EOElla O.13 June 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Ten gigabit on every port and the PoE budget to match

    Cons

The fans are audible the moment the PoE load climbs

    Comment

Racked it under the console and every access point, camera and door reader came up on the first boot with no VLAN faff at all. Adoption took about as long as it takes to make a cup of tea. It is not a quiet unit under load, mind, the fans lift noticeably once the cameras are pulling 200 watts between them, but it lives in a cupboard off the hall so nobody hears it.
