It sits under the monitor and gets used on everything, vocals, bass DI, acoustic, and it flatters all of them. Nothing has drifted or gone noisy in the time I have had it, which is more than a year of fairly hard use now. The metering is the only part I ignore, though that is probably on me.

Bought it as the front end for a spare room studio after years of clean, characterless preamps, and the difference is not subtle. Wind the gain past halfway and a flat condenser starts sounding like a record, with the low mids filling in and the top softening off. Worth knowing before you buy though: this is not a bus powered box. There is a mains supply, it is not tiny, and the blue chassis runs warm enough that I would not stack anything on top of it. Driver on Windows has been solid at a 128 sample buffer with a full session running, and round trip measures 6 ms which is fine for tracking. Two months in and the only thing I have not worked out is why the headphone volume is quite so fierce in the first quarter of the dial.

Guitar into the instrument input, gain up, and it does that thick Neve thing everyone bangs on about. It really does. Never heard a DI sound like this out of a laptop interface!

Two years of vocal sessions through it and the thing has never been switched off for more than a night. The transformers do most of the work: a singer who used to need a compressor and an EQ now needs neither, because the weight is already there when the take lands. The practical notes. It wants its own mains socket, it is heavier than the photographs suggest, and the USB-C connection has been faultless on both a Mac and a PC. Buffer sits at 64 for tracking and I have never had a click. If the blue puts you off, buy it anyway.
