203dpi is at its limit on tiny tags

The RFID side is the reason for the money and it has earned it. A stock count that used to take two people a full Saturday now takes one person about forty minutes with a wand. As a plain label printer it is also very good, though at 203dpi the small text on a jewellery tag is at the edge of legible and we moved those onto a bigger label rather than fight it. Roll changes are quick and calibration has never once needed doing by hand.

Prints and encodes from a single design file

We label everything in a hire fleet: cameras, lenses, stands, cases. Each item gets a printed barcode and an RFID tag inside so a van can be checked in with a wand rather than a clipboard. This does both from one design file. In nine months the encode has failed perhaps once in three hundred tags, and when it does it voids the label and reprints without anybody watching, which is exactly the behaviour you want. It sits on a shelf in the store and takes an ordinary desktop footprint, so nothing had to be rearranged for it. Setup took an afternoon, most of that spent deciding what we wanted rather than fighting the printer.
