Used for: 1–3 months
Smart colour and a solid feel
The green is far nicer in the hand than on screen
Used for: Less than a month
Exact fit and proper protection in a bag
Adds enough weight to spoil one-handed reading
The case itself is well made and the fit is exact, so this is not a complaint about quality. What I would want known before ordering is the weight. The device is light enough to hold in one hand for an hour of reading, and with this on it is not. Half the appeal of an e-reader is that it disappears, and a case with a rigid back and a fabric cover brings you back to holding a small book. Protection is excellent, mind. It went into a bag with a laptop and a flask and came out perfect, and the writing surface is unmarked. I use it for travel and take the case off at home.
Used for: 6–12 months
Corners are still square after a lot of bag time
Takes the reader in and out of a rucksack every day and the corners are still square. The pen loop has stretched a little but still grips, which is more than I expected of elastic!
Used for: 3–6 months
Folds flat behind for writing
No pocket for spare nibs
Holds the reader in a tray rather than clipping the corners, so it does not creak when you press on the screen to write. The magnetic flap folds back flat behind and stays there, which is the only thing that matters for a note-taker.
Used for: 6–12 months
The colour has held up
The flap will not stay shut on its own
Does its job quietly and the green has not faded!
Used for: More than a year
Corners and magnets are as good as they were
The spine has creased and gone soft
This has been on the reader since the week I bought the thing, so it has had a proper run at proving itself. Starting with what works. The tray grips all four corners and has not loosened, the magnets still shut the flap flush, and the writing surface has been protected from everything a bag can do to it. The green has not gone patchy in sunlight, which I half expected. The part that has not aged well is the spine. The fold has creased into a permanent hinge and the material there is going soft, so the cover no longer sits quite flat when folded behind. It still works, it just looks tired next to the rest of it. A year and a bit in, four stars, and I would buy the same thing again because the alternative is carrying an unprotected screen.
Used for: 3–6 months
Wake on open is instant
Slightly heavier than the reader deserves
Cover wakes the screen as it opens, every time, with none of the delay the old one had
