This sits on a machine that runs long simulations overnight, and it has never once been the reason something went wrong. The thing that justifies the money for me is thermal consistency. Hour eight of a load looks the same as hour one, no creep, no fans ramping up as the coolant warms through. Whatever they have done with the pump and the cold plate, it holds. The fans have been quiet the whole time and the pump has stayed silent, which for a closed loop after two years is not something I took for granted. If you want it purely for the screen it is a very expensive screen. If you want a cooler that does not drift, it earns its place!

Build quality is exactly what the price implies. The block is machined metal rather than plastic, the tubing is properly sleeved, and the fans have a weight to them that cheaper ones do not. On a 285K under a full load it holds the low eighties with the fans nowhere near maximum, which is all I wanted from it. A month and a half in, nothing has changed.

It has been utterly faultless. The 360 rad in the roof cleared everything, the ARGB matched the rest of my ROG parts without any fiddling, and the pump has never made a sound.

This went into an air starved little case and the results are better than I feared. The SLC screen is the headline feature and it is very good, but the part that impressed me more is the pump. It is inaudible. I put my ear against the block expecting the usual faint whir and got nothing, which after two previous AIOs that hummed is worth a lot, and three weeks in it has stayed that way. The grumble is Armoury Crate. To do anything interesting with the screen you install a suite that wants to manage every ASUS product you own, and it is heavy and slow. The cooling and the hardware deserve five stars; the software drags it down!

The Ryuo sits on a 9950X3D here and the screen on the pump head is the first one I have owned that I actually look at. It is bright, sharp and big enough to read from the desk, and it shows CPU temperature and clocks without me opening anything. Cooling is what you would expect from a good 360, holding the high seventies under a long render. Twelve days in and I have no complaints at all.

I have gone from delighted to grudging over nine months, which is not where I expected to be at this price. The cooling is fine. Never a bad temperature, never a noise from the pump, and the fans are well behaved on a sensible curve. Nothing wrong with the hardware at all. The problem is everything around it. The screen needs the ASUS software running to show anything other than a default, that software has updated itself four times since I fitted it, and twice an update has left the screen blank until I reinstalled. Once it reset my fan curve as well. For a cooler that costs more than most graphics cards I expected the software side to be as solid as the metalwork, and it simply is not.
