The controller quietly needs a spare USB header and SATA power

Very happy with them, so the only thing worth writing about is what caught me out during fitting. The controller needs both a SATA power lead and an internal USB header, and neither is mentioned anywhere obvious on the packaging. My board had one spare USB header, which I had earmarked for the front panel, so something had to give. Beyond that they are excellent. Beautiful lighting, quiet at the speeds I run them, and the whole row went in as a single unit. Two weeks in and I would buy them again.

Three of these have served as case intake and they have aged well, getting on for two years now. No bearing noise, no dimming of the LEDs, and the connectors still hold firmly after a couple of case moves. As intake through a mesh front they are genuinely good, which is the job they should be given. The one thing I would change is the controller software, which is heavier than a fan utility needs to be and insists on starting with Windows.

Second time I have bought this fan and the second machine is as tidy as the first, which is the whole reason I keep coming back. Most fan sets ask you to run a PWM lead and a lighting lead from every fan, so six fans means twelve cables converging on a hub, and however carefully you tie them the back of the tray ends up looking like a substation. These link to each other instead. Two rows of three, two leads, done. The lighting deserves the reputation. It is a solid ring in both directions with no bright spots where the LEDs sit, and set to a single low colour it looks expensive rather than gaudy. Airflow is good rather than exceptional, which is fine for case duty. No rattles, no wobble and no connectors working loose in three months of use.

I am underwhelmed given what these cost. The lighting is lovely, no argument there, the infinity effect is as good as everyone says. But as fans they are unremarkable. Static pressure through a radiator is poor enough that I had to run them ten percent higher than my old cheap fans for the same coolant temperature, which rather undoes the noise advantage. Buy them for the look, not for the airflow. Three months of that and my view has not softened.

Bought a three pack for the front of a mesh tower and they have done everything I asked. The daisy chain is the practical win. Three fans, one lead to the controller, and the back of the tray stays clear. The lighting is the pretty win, a continuous ring rather than a row of dots, and it runs at a low brightness without looking dim or patchy. At a moderate speed they are inaudible over the graphics card, and my case temperatures dropped a couple of degrees over the stock fans. Four months of daily use so far, with no rattles and no dimming.
