The tidiest fan installation I have ever done

The installation experience alone almost justifies the outlay. The fans clip into each other, the row screws in as a unit, and then there is nothing left to do because the wireless module handles both power control and lighting. No PWM splitter, no ARGB hub, no cable through the grommet. On a build where the side chamber is sealed off, that is worth real money. Four stars rather than five only because the app took two evenings and a firmware update before it would hold my settings reliably. Since then it has been fine!

A set of three of these serve as a side bank in a dual chamber case, and I have landed somewhere between impressed and exasperated. What they get right is everything physical. The reverse blades mean the view through the glass is of blade faces rather than motor hubs, they interlock so the row is one rigid unit, and the wireless module removes the last cable that would otherwise have to cross the partition. The LCD on the lead fan is sharp and readable, and the bearings have stayed silent for six months. What they get wrong is the software. Everything about the lighting and the screen lives in an app that is slow to launch, occasionally cannot find the fans, and has twice reverted my settings after a Windows update. None of that stops them working as fans, but for the money the experience should be seamless and it is not.

They have been reliable, quiet and lovely to look at. The reason this is not five stars is that the wireless dongle takes a rear USB port that I would rather have used for something else, and there is no way to run them wired instead.

My reason for choosing the reverse version has been vindicated every time I look at the machine. My case puts a fan bank directly behind the glass on the side. With normal fans you spend your life looking at the back of them. These face the right way, the lighting ring reads properly rather than through spokes, and because they are wireless the row has nothing running to the board at all. Airflow through a filter is decent too!

I would buy them again, so treat the criticism as a warning rather than a complaint. They are thicker than a standard 120 millimetre fan, which caught me out when I tried to mount the row against the side radiator and found there was not enough clearance. They went on the intake side instead and everything is fine, but measure before you commit to a position. Ten weeks on, the intake position has worked out fine.
