It does the job it says on the box and I have used it at half a dozen family things in eight months, but two complaints keep it off five stars. The speakers are too quiet for anything past a dozen people, so you are carrying a PA anyway. And the jog wheels are small enough that a proper beat juggle is out of the question. As a self contained box that plugs into nothing, it is still remarkable.

Wedding work, and the whole point is that it sets up in about a minute and there is nothing to crash mid speech. Music on a stick, plug it in, play. Two years of that now and the faders are still clean, which surprised me for a unit that gets carried in and out of car boots every weekend.

Everything else here is better than the price suggests, and then you touch the crossfader. It has a long throw and a soft cut, which is fine for blending and useless for anything sharp. On a unit aimed at mobile work I can live with it, but I would rather not.

Mobile work, mostly birthdays and small halls, and this replaced a laptop, a controller, an interface and the anxiety of all of them talking to each other on the night. Now it is one box and a stick. The preparation is the bit nobody mentions. Tracks have to be analysed and exported through the software before the unit will see them properly, and doing that to a library of a few thousand takes an evening you were not planning to spend. Once that is done it is superb. Eight months of gigs, no crashes, and the battery has never dropped below half on a three hour set. The filter is musical rather than harsh and the effects are more usable than I expected!
