Work bought these for the hybrid rota and I have quietly started using them for everything else too. The boom arm is the point: on a call from a busy kitchen nobody can tell where I am, and the arm swings up to mute, which is the only mute control I have ever used correctly first time. Music is not what they are for, and it shows. Out of the box everything is pushed forward at the expense of the bass, and there is no app on my machine to fix it, so podcasts are fine and anything with a kick drum is thin. Six weeks in the battery still gets me from Monday morning to Thursday afternoon, call after call, which is about 20 hours of talking. It charges from the same USB-C brick as the phone, so nothing extra travels.

On-ear rather than over-ear was the compromise I made for the bag, and it turns out to be the right one for summer: no sweaty ears on a warm carriage. The ANC is weaker than a big over-ear pair as a result, but I knew that going in!

Issued these to a team of eight and half of them are now back in the drawer. The problem is pairing: the dongle holds fine, but the Bluetooth side forgets the laptop 3 or 4 times a week and you get the double-beep in the middle of a client call. Nine months in and two firmware updates later it is no better. Sound and comfort are both good, which makes the wireless behaviour more annoying, not less.

These live on a hook by the front door and go out with me on the train. The cancelling handles the rumble of a Pendolino properly, less so the announcements. A year in the headband padding has compressed a little and you feel the frame, though it is still comfortable for the 90 minutes each way.
