Comfortable straps for something this cheap
The straps are the surprise here. They are wide, they have a bit of padding and they do not twist, which is not what I expected at this money. Loaded with a 15.6 inch laptop, a folder and a bottle it sits comfortably enough for a half hour walk. It is plain black with no branding to speak of, so it does not look like a cheap bag either!
Used for: 6–12 months
Given to my son for college and it has done eight months of being thrown into lockers without a seam going. The laptop section is padded enough for a school machine and the straps have not started to fray, which is the usual failure on cheap bags

Ordered as a spare for the car and it has quietly become the bag I grab first. A 15.6 inch laptop goes into the padded back section, there is room for a jumper and a lunch in the main compartment, and the front pocket swallows the small stuff. Two months of that and nothing has come loose!

Light and folds away when not needed
Laptop sleeve is not padded enough for a heavy machine
Weighs almost nothing empty, which is why I bought it as a travel spare that lives in a suitcase. It packs down small enough to disappear into a corner of the case. The laptop sleeve is more of a divider than real protection, so my 15.6 inch machine goes in its own sleeve first. With that done it has been fine, and for a bag that costs less than lunch I am not going to grumble.

Far bigger inside than it looks
Padding at the base is minimal
Arrived folded flat and I assumed I had ordered the wrong thing, then it opened out into a proper rucksack. The main compartment took a 15.6 inch laptop, two ring binders and a gym kit on the first day of using it, which was more than I planned for. Everything about it is basic, and the bottom of the bag has almost no padding, so I would not set it down hard with a laptop inside. For the price, no complaints at all.

Does everything a student needs it to
Plain to the point of anonymous
My daughter needed something for sixth form that would hold a laptop and a stack of folders without costing much, and this was the answer. It is bigger than the photographs suggest. Two ring binders, a 15.6 inch laptop in the back sleeve, a pencil case and a water bottle in the side mesh all went in with the zip closing easily. The back panel has enough padding that a full bag does not dig in, and the straps adjust properly rather than slipping. It is entirely plain, which she was fine with and some would not be. No complaints from either of us!

Astonishing value for what it does
Not waterproof, just a bit water shy
Bought three of these, one for each of us, on the basis that at this price it hardly mattered if they were rubbish. They are not rubbish. The construction is simple and honest. One large compartment with a padded laptop sleeve at the back, one front pocket with a small organiser panel, two mesh side pockets, and that is the lot. The zips are ordinary but they run properly and the pulls have not come off. Stitching at the strap joins looks doubled, which is where I expected it to fail first. The one thing to be clear about is water. The fabric sheds a light shower for a few minutes and then gives up, so anything valuable needs a plastic bag inside if the forecast is bad. Ours have been rained on twice and the laptops survived, but I would not push it. Hard to fault otherwise for the money!
