It has been the main edit machine since it arrived and nothing has slowed down, no thermal sulking, no battery collapse. The only sign of wear after well over a year is a faint shine on the aluminium either side of the trackpad, which honestly just makes it look used. Would buy it again tomorrow!

Came off an ageing Intel machine that had turned into a hairdryer, and the first thing that struck me was the silence. A full grade on a two hour timeline and the fans still have not made themselves heard, I actually put my ear to the vent to check it was awake. The 128GB means Resolve stops caching to disc entirely, and that is the bit that changes a working day rather than any benchmark score. Carrying it is the compromise. With the charger and a drive the bag is properly heavy, so I have started leaving the brick at the desk because the battery genuinely lasts a shoot.

The panel is the part I would defend hardest. HDR reference mode is genuinely a reference, and I have stopped double checking grades on the calibrated monitor before anything goes out. What I did not expect was how much of the dongle drawer became redundant. HDMI and a card reader on the machine itself means a 256GB card backs up on the train home with nothing hanging off the side. The keyboard is fine rather than lovely, a bit shallow after years on a mechanical, and the trackpad is so large that a thumb occasionally lands on it mid sentence. Small things against a machine that has not once made me wait.

Bought for editing weddings and it has already paid for a chunk of itself in time saved. Two 4K streams with grades and noise reduction on top play back without a single dropped frame, which the old machine simply refused to do. Battery surprised me most. A full ceremony edit on a train with the screen up near maximum and it still had over half left when we pulled in. The speakers are far better than a laptop has any right to have!

Bought it in place of a desktop and a laptop, and the desktop has not been switched on since. Docked to two screens at work it drives both without a stutter, and unplugged on the sofa it is the same machine at the same speed, which was never true of the Intel one. A year on the battery health is still in the high nineties despite being charged most days, and that alone will keep it in service long after the point where I would normally start looking again.
