Bought as an upgrade from a much older machine and everything about the working day has got shorter. Exports, previews, opening enormous files, all of it now happens while I am still looking at the screen rather than while I make tea. It does warm up on the legs if you sit with it for an hour of exporting!

The only time I have heard the fans was during a very long export while it was charging. Everything else has been silent and quick, and that is five months of photo work, video and a lot of writing.

The battery claim is the one that turned out to be true. Writing, mail, a few calls and some light editing and it goes from morning to evening with something left, which no laptop I have owned has managed. Ten months in the health reading is still above ninety percent despite being charged nearly every night. The only thing I carry reluctantly is the charger, which is bulkier than the thinness of the machine suggests.

Now that this is the main machine, the impressions are mostly what everyone says, with two caveats worth adding. First, the screen. It is brilliant indoors and very good outdoors, but the glass is glossy enough that a bright room behind you shows up. Coming from a matte panel that took some getting used to. Second, the ports. There are more than there used to be, which is progress, but the layout puts two of the USB-C on the left and the third on the right, and every hub I own has a short cable. I have ended up with an adapter anyway. Neither is enough to spoil it. It is silent, it is quick, and it does not get hot on the lap, which is why the old machine was replaced.
