Used for: 1–3 months
Battery genuinely lasts a working day
Two USB-C ports and nothing else
Replaced an ageing Inspiron and the difference in battery life is night and day. Live with the dongle, though
Used for: 1–3 months
Silent, no fan noise at all
A couple of older apps still run in emulation
Bought it for train work and the fanless design is the reason I would buy again. No noise, no hot spot under the left palm rest. Two of my older audio tools run in emulation and feel sluggish, but everything I use daily is native now!
Used for: More than a year
Battery has held up better than I expected
You will need a hub for anything with a cable
Bought this as the machine that would travel with me everywhere, and it has done exactly that. On a normal working day of documents, mail and a browser full of tabs I get through to the evening without hunting for a socket, and the battery health readout is still above ninety percent after a year and a half of that. The hinge is as tight as the day it came out of the box, no wobble when the train moves. What I would tell anyone buying: budget for a dock. Two USB-C ports means the charger takes one and everything else fights over the other!
Used for: 3–6 months
The reason I moved to this one was the screen, and it has not disappointed. Outdoors on a bright day it is still readable at about two thirds brightness, which my old machine never managed. The capacitive function row divides people and I understand why. There is no feel to it, and I still hit the wrong key when I want to mute in a hurry. You do adapt. Everything else about the keyboard is excellent, more travel than the thinness suggests, and the trackpad is the best I have used on a Windows machine!
Used for: Less than a month
Sets up in minutes and the screen is superb
Straight out of the box this thing feels like a piece of jewellery. The lid is one slab of aluminium, no creak anywhere, and it weighs less than the 13 inch machine it replaced despite feeling twice as solid. Early days, so I cannot speak to how it ages, but so far nothing has stuttered. Thirty odd tabs, a video call and a spreadsheet open together and the 32GB does not blink. The speakers are the surprise, properly loud for something this thin, and the webcam is finally usable for work calls!
Used for: More than a year
Still quick, still quiet
The palm rest has worn shiny
Still boots in seconds after 18 months of daily use, though the palm rest has gone shiny now
Used for: Less than a month
Weightless in a rucksack
Windows on ARM still trips over the odd installer
Went for the Snapdragon version knowing there might be software gaps, and there have been two so far, both niche. Everything mainstream installs and runs like any other laptop. What sold me is carrying it: I genuinely forget it is in the bag, and there is no charger brick to remember either!
