One module has failed and the machine is unstable with it fitted

One of the two modules has gone bad. The machine ran without a single fault at 5600 for a long stretch, then started throwing random reboots, and memtest86 now pins thousands of errors to a single address range on the second stick. Pull it, and the system runs perfectly on 32GB. Nothing was overclocked beyond the stock XMP profile and the ambient temperature in that case never went above 30C, so I do not accept that I killed it. One star for memory that did not last.

Corsair's spreader is one of the shorter tall ones, if that makes sense, and it clears a be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 with the fan in its normal position. Runs 5600 CL40 on an Asus TUF with EXPO enabled and has never needed a retrain. 64GB is more than the games need but virtual machines eat it happily. Five months in, still not a single failed post.

Swapped a 2x16 kit for this and AIDA read bandwidth went from 71 to 84 GB/s, which surprised me for a lower rated speed. Dual rank does more than the number on the box suggests. XMP took immediately on a Z690.

Five stars for the memory itself, which has done nothing but work! It went into a Z690 Hero with a 12700K, took the 5600 profile on the first post and has held it through two CPU coolers, a graphics card swap and more BIOS updates than I can count. Never a single memory error in any test I have thrown at it, including a full overnight OCCT run. The spreaders still look new, brushed aluminium rather than the painted stuff that chips. Three years in now, and I have stopped thinking about it entirely.

5600 rather than 6000 was a deliberate choice for a 13th gen build with four slots populated, and it has been completely stable at rated speed. Ten passes of MemTest86 overnight, no errors.
