  • TETheo E.27 August 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Capacity and speed together, which is the hard combination

    Cons

Mine will only do 6000, not the 6400 on the box

    Comment

On a Gigabyte board with the latest firmware the rated profile posts and then falls over in testing every time. 6000 is completely stable so that is where it lives, and honestly at 96GB I am not going to lose sleep over 400MHz. Still, the number on the packaging should be the number you get.

  • APAmelia P.13 August 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Runs its rated 6400 with 96GB, which is rare

    Cons

Costs about as much as the CPU

    Comment

Blender scenes that used to swap out to disk now sit entirely in memory, and the viewport stopped stuttering. Painful invoice, no regrets

  • HNHarry N.27 July 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

The only 96GB kit my board would take at full speed

    Cons

Training time on the first boot is long enough to be alarming

    Comment

Tried two other kits from my parts drawer before this one, both refusing anything above 5200 in this board with 96GB installed. The Renegade holds its 6400 profile with no manual timings at all. Worth saying that the very first boot sat on a blank screen for about seventy seconds. Every boot after that is normal. Photogrammetry sets that used to be split into chunks now load in one go, which has changed how I work more than any CPU upgrade has. Five months on and the profile has not slipped once.

  • FKFreya K.24 July 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

EXPO held first time with both slots filled

    Cons

You need a big case and a compatible cooler

    Comment

Upgrading from 64GB and expecting a fight, because everything I read said high capacity DDR5 will not hold its rated speed. Not the case here. Profile on, 6400, booted, done, and a fortnight of heavy After Effects work has not thrown a single error. They are physically large. In a mid tower with a 240 up top I had about 4mm of clearance to the radiator, so check that before you spend this kind of money.

  • OPOscar P.22 July 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

96GB without dropping to four sticks and 3600

    Cons

The lit heatspreaders make them tall enough to foul most air coolers

    Comment

Video work on a 7950X and this was the capacity I needed, a 4K timeline with three streams and a lot of effects will happily eat 60GB before it thinks about caching to disk. Since fitting these the machine has stopped hitting the page file entirely, and two months of daily grading have not changed that. Measure your cooler though. With the lit spreaders on top they are 44mm and my Dark Rock had to lose its front fan. A low profile version of the same kit would be an easy five stars.

  • ESElla S.14 July 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Runs a dozen VMs with headroom to spare

    Cons

Lighting cannot be fully switched off from the BIOS on my board

    Comment

Lab machine for testing deployments, and the reason for 96GB is that I can run a dozen Windows VMs and still have headroom for the host. Memory pressure is simply not a thing I think about any more. Eight months in and the host has not needed a single unplanned reboot. Only niggle is the lighting. My board can set a colour but not turn the sticks off, so there is a permanent glow inside a machine that lives under a desk.

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

Fifteen months of daily rendering without a single memory error

    Cons

Cold boot training is glacial and always will be

    Comment

This kit went into a workstation that gets used eight hours a day and has been faultless. The capacity is the whole reason it exists. Two 48GB sticks means the board sees a two DIMM load and will actually hold 6400, where four 24GB sticks on the same board would not go past 4800 for me. Point cloud work that used to spill onto the scratch disk now stays resident and the difference in the middle of a long session is enormous. The one thing you learn to live with is the wait after a power cut. It retrains from scratch, which is a good ninety seconds of nothing on screen, and the first time it happens you assume the machine is dead.

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

    Enormous capacity that actually clocks

    Cons

    Price

    Comment

Still error free and still at 6400. The invoice still hurts a bit

  • GBGeorge B.14 June 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Comment

Two 48GB sticks rather than four smaller ones, which is the only sane way to get near 100GB on a consumer board and still clock decently. Mine holds 6400 on an X670E with the profile on. First boot took over a minute of training and I nearly pulled the plug thinking it had hung. Docked a star for how tall these are, my cooler only just cleared.

  • LDLouie D.8 June 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

Two sticks, 96GB, still at 6400

    Cons

    Tall

    Comment

Fits a 360 AIO build with no argument, would not fit under my old tower cooler. Speed exactly as advertised on an ASUS X870E
