Set it up under a 24in monitor with the laptop on the magnetic stand and it all fits, just. The faders have enough travel for real mix moves rather than the token 30mm ones on cheaper boards. It wants the supply plugged in though, or the pad lighting goes half-hearted.

One star is harsh for something built this well, but the pads are the reason I chose it over the Essential and mine are not consistent. Hitting the bottom row at the same strength gives me values in the 90s on the left and the low 50s on the right, and no amount of curve editing evens that out, because the problem is not the curve. Everything else is lovely. The keybed is quiet, the faders are proper full-size ones, and the Analog Lab licence would be worth having on its own. But a pad section that needs me to play harder on one side is not something I can work with, and finger drumming was the whole point.

Plugged it into Logic, picked the mode, and the transport, the faders and track select all worked immediately. That saved the evening of MIDI learn I had budgeted for. Getting the software going was the opposite: three separate installers, a licence manager and two accounts before Analog Lab would open. Worth doing, because eight months later that library is where most of my sounds come from, but set aside a wet Sunday for it.

Long enough now to say what has held up and what has not. The aluminium chassis and the wooden ends look exactly as they did after two years of daily use, the keys are unchanged, and the faders still move smoothly with no crackle when I ride them. What has aged is the software side. Analog Lab has moved on twice, and each time the mapping between the knobs and the newer instruments has needed a look at. Not broken, just not the automatic thing it was at the start. The DAW mode in Logic has been solid throughout. The honest weakness is the keybed. It is a good synth action with aftertouch, but it is not, and never claimed to be, a piano. My partner learnt on a grand and will not go near it, which tells you most of what you need to know.
