Storage and expansion fight each other once every slot is filled

Excellent board with one thing that nobody explains properly until you hit it, which is lane sharing. Fill every M.2 slot and the bottom PCIe slot drops to a lower width. Add a card there and one of the drives loses speed instead. This is documented, in a table three quarters of the way through the manual, in a font size that suggests they hoped you would not look. I only noticed because a capture card started dropping frames after I fitted a fourth drive. Once you know, it is easy enough to plan around, and the rest of the board has been faultless for eleven months in a machine that is on all day. Memory at 6000 with EXPO on the first boot, VRM never above the mid forties, network and audio both excellent. Just work out your storage and expansion plan before you build, not after.

Three stars is about value rather than function, and I want to be fair to the board because the engineering is not the problem. It does everything well. Memory at 6400 first time, VRM in the low forties under an all core load, Wi-Fi 7 quicker than my broadband, four M.2 slots all at full speed. No crashes, no lost settings, no drama. Nine months of it and nothing to report. The difficulty is that the Master sitting two rungs down does almost all of that for a great deal less. What you actually gain here is the second network port, a slightly better audio codec and the AI branded software I do not use. I bought the flagship expecting a difference I could feel in daily use, and there is not one.

Assembly was the easiest I have had, everything clips, latches or slides and the only screws in the build were the ones holding the board to the case. My gripe is capacity. On a board this large I expected more than four DIMM slots, and with AM5 preferring two sticks for high speeds you are effectively capped sooner than you would like.
