  • DBDaisy B.1 September 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Cons

The underside label feels ready to tear

    Comment

Went in as the OS drive on a rebuild and Windows installed off a USB stick in about eleven minutes, which is the fastest I have managed. Sequential numbers in CrystalDiskMark came within a whisker of the claimed figures. The only thing that gave me pause is how thin the label is on the underside, it feels like it would tear if you ever needed to peel it back.

    Cons

DRAM-less, so big sustained writes fall away

    Comment

No complaints on speed, and for what it cost against the Samsung equivalent it was the sensible buy. The one caveat, and it is the reason for four stars, is that this is a DRAM-less design. You will not notice it loading games or booting. You will notice it if you dump a hundred gigabytes of raw video onto it in one go, because the write speed drops to something that would embarrass a SATA drive once the cache is spent.

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Loads games no slower than the drive it replaced

    Cons

    No mounting screw supplied

    Comment

Ordered this to take the pressure off a nearly full boot drive, and moving the Steam library across freed up the machine completely. The transfer itself ran at about 1.1GB/s for the first sixty gigabytes and then settled to roughly 550MB/s for the rest, which is the cache doing what a cache does. Loading times in the two games I actually play are indistinguishable from the more expensive drive they came off. One star off because the drive arrived with no mounting screw and my board did not have a spare.

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

    Does its job invisibly

    Cons

    The label marks easily

    Comment

Quiet, cool, quick. Has not put a foot wrong since fitting

  • MBMaya B.5 July 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Single sided, so it fits the tight mini PC slots

    Cons

Nothing in the box, not even a mounting screw

    Comment

Single sided module, so it went into a mini PC that will not take anything thicker. Idles at 36 degrees in a box with barely any airflow!

  • FWFlorence W.21 June 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

Timeline scrubbing is smooth on 4K project files

    Cons

Long ingests crawl once the cache is gone

    Comment

Second drive in a video editing machine, used purely as a working disk for 4K project files, and it has changed how the timeline behaves. Scrubbing through a multi-camera edit is smooth where it used to hitch, and exports read the source about a third quicker than off the old SATA SSD. For the money that is a genuine result. Where it shows its price is on long ingests. Dropping a full card of footage on, forty odd gigabytes, and the last part of the copy crawls compared to the start. It also gets warmer than I expected for a Gen4 drive, 64 degrees under a sustained write with no heatsink, which is inside spec but not comfortable reading.

  • TETheo E.11 June 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

    Cold boot in nine seconds

    Cons

The bundled software is worth skipping

    Comment

Fitted this to a Ryzen mini machine that lives behind a monitor, and boot to desktop is nine seconds from cold. The reason I mention that is the old drive took thirty two. Temperatures never go past the high forties even wedged in there with no airflow to speak of!

Used for: More than a year

    Comment

Been the games drive in this machine since the build went together and it has never given a moment's bother. A year and a half of installing, deleting and reinstalling the same few hundred gigabytes and the health readout still shows 98 per cent!

  • IRIvy R.5 June 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Cheapest terabyte of Gen4 I could find

    Cons

Runs warm with no heatsink over it

    Comment

Cheapest way I found to get a terabyte of Gen4 into a laptop, and it took the clone without a single error!
