Bought as a straight capacity upgrade for a recorder that was overwriting too quickly, and on that count it has done exactly what was needed. What I had not expected is how warm it runs compared to the drive it replaced. In the same cabinet with the same fan it sits about six degrees higher, which is not a problem but it did make me add a second vent. Recording itself has been flawless and the DVR did not need any configuration to take it.

Four terabytes has been the sweet spot for this eight camera system, giving about six weeks of retention before anything gets overwritten. Two years in and it has logged nothing worrying. The one mark against it is that it is noticeably louder than the 1TB Purple it sits next to.

Doing surveillance duty in a garage recorder where the temperature swings from near freezing to baking, and it has not missed a beat. That was the reason I paid for a purpose built drive rather than the cheapest 4TB on the shelf. Writes continuously across eight channels without the seek noise you get from a desktop drive doing the same job!
