Picture is lovely when it settles. The catch is that it does not always settle, and leaning in to read something sets it hunting for a moment before it locks back onto my face. Manual focus fixes it, but you have to go looking for the setting

The privacy slider is metal and moves with a click you can hear across the room, which after a couple of flimsy plastic flaps on previous cameras feels like an actual design decision. Everything else is quietly good. It has never once needed a restart!

Skin tone is the thing people notice on calls and this is the first camera where colleagues have not asked whether I am unwell. Warm without being orange. Where it falls down is the mount, because my monitor has a bezel about as thick as a pound coin and the clip simply will not hold on it. It now lives on a tripod beside the screen, which works but sits slightly off-axis, so I am looking at the camera or at the person, never both. Buy a small mount at the same time and save yourself the annoyance.

Set this up for a fortnight of evening streams before writing anything, because the last camera looked wonderful for the first hour and then started dropping frames. No sign of that. OBS takes it as a plain USB source, the exposure does not lurch when I turn the key light off, and the fan behind me has not once shown up in the picture as noise. The mic is nothing special, but for the money it is a bargain.

Bought for a home office that faces north and gets about four usable hours of daylight in December, which is the exact scenario every webcam I have owned has failed. This one is genuinely clean in a room lit by one lamp. Not bright, not flattering, but clean, and that is the whole reason it is here. A couple of things stop it being top marks. The field of view is wide enough that my kitchen doorway is in shot unless I crop it, and the mic is only adequate, fine for saying good morning to a stand-up and hopeless for anything anyone will listen back to. Neither is a surprise at the price and neither would stop me buying it again.
