Bought it for a family skiing week and it earned its keep on the first lift. Nobody has to be the one holding the camera, you just clip it to a pole and film the whole group, then crop to whoever did something stupid. Cold did not bother it as much as I feared, though the battery drops away faster below freezing and I kept the spare inside my jacket. Two months in the lens has one tiny mark on it, so the guards are going on before the next trip.

Three stars, and the missing two are all about the software rather than the camera. The hardware is lovely. Solid, sensibly weighted, the mounting system is the same as everything else I own and the stitching genuinely is as good as people say. Outdoors in decent light the footage is superb. But you cannot use any of it without the phone app, and the app is where my patience goes to die. It wants an account. It wants the account signed in again every few weeks. Reframing a clip on the handset is slow and it has crashed on me mid-export more than once, which means starting the whole thing again. Desktop software is better but not by as much as it should be, and neither of them handles a long clip without a fan running flat out.

Replaced a pair of action cameras I used to run at the same time on the boat, one forward and one back, and this does the job of both with half the faff. Waterproofing has been tested properly across three months of weekends. It has been under a wave, dunked in a bucket to rinse the salt off and left on deck in horizontal rain, and it has not skipped a beat. The touchscreen does become useless the moment it is wet, mind, so I set everything before it goes out and use the physical button after that. The magnetic quick release is the unsung part. One hand, no threading, no dropped screws into the water. Battery is the usual story for the class, about an hour and a half of recording in the cold.

First week with it and the learning curve is real. Framing is not framing any more, it is a decision you make later, and the first few rides came home as a pile of clips I did not know what to do with. Once the workflow clicked it became the camera I reach for. Four stars only because the battery is modest for something that films everything at once.

Came to this from a standard action camera and the way you shoot is completely different. You stop aiming. Stick it on the bars, ride, and pick the angles out afterwards, which means the shot of the deer crossing the path actually exists instead of being a story I tell. Stitching is close to invisible unless you go looking for it along the seam. Exporting is the price you pay: my laptop takes a good while over a five minute clip, and the phone gets warm doing anything longer than a highlight.
