Fiddly battery door and a firmware nag every connection

No complaints about the pictures at all, so the five stars stand. The gripe is everything around it. The battery door needs a proper fingernail and in gloves it is a genuine faff, which is exactly when you want to swap a cell. The bundled sticky mounts are strong but there are only two of them, so a second helmet means another order. The phone app is the bigger irritation. It insists on a firmware check every time it connects, and on a cold morning at the trailhead that is two minutes of standing about before you can film anything. None of it stops the camera being brilliant once it is running, it is just friction you notice.

Voice control is the feature I sneered at and now use constantly. Hands on the bars, say the word, and it starts. Mounts from the older models all still fit, which saved me a small fortune in brackets!

Came off a five year old Hero and the difference is not the resolution, it is what the stabilisation does with a cobbled street. Footage from the pillion of a bike is watchable now instead of something you apologise for before playing it. Where it falls short is heat. Recording continuously in the sun it will stop itself eventually, and I have learnt to shoot in shorter blocks rather than argue with it.

First outing was a wet coastal path and it came home caked in salt. Rinsed under the tap, dried, no complaints from it at all. The screen is bright enough to frame a shot in full sun, which the older one never managed. App pairing took two goes on an Android phone before it settled, and after that it has been instant.
