Thin enough that the tablet still fits its sleeve
Key travel is shallow if you type hard
The slim version drops the trackpad and I do not miss it, because the tablet is a touchscreen anyway and reaching up is quicker than fiddling. It clips on by pogo pins, so there is no pairing and no battery, and the whole thing is thin enough that the Tab still fits in the sleeve it came with. Keys are shallow but even.

Keyboard detaches without taking the whole case off
It will not fold flat back for reading
Bought it to write up notes on the ward rather than carry a laptop about, and on that count it has been a success. The keyboard half comes off with a tug and the back stays on, which matters when you want the tablet alone for a moment. Magnets are firm and the pogo connection has never dropped a keypress. Two grumbles. The tablet will not fold all the way back on itself, so reading one-handed means taking the keyboard off entirely, and the cover picks up hand cream marks that will not shift. Neither is enough to stop me using it every shift!

The top lip gets in the way of the docked pen
Everything about the typing is fine and I would give it five if it were not for the back half. The cover is in two pieces, and the piece that grips the tablet has a lip along the top edge that fouls the stylus when it is docked to charge. Five months in I have got into the habit of taking the pen off before folding it shut, but I should not have to think about it. The stand angles are also fixed rather than free, and the middle one is the only usable position on a desk, with the shallowest far too flat to see the screen properly.

Turns the Tab into the machine I take to meetings instead of the laptop. Notes, email and a spreadsheet all work at a sensible speed, and the whole lot weighs less than the charger for my old work machine!
