    Used for: 6–12 months

    Comment

Went into a machine for a teenager who plays a mix of competitive shooters and whatever is free that month, and for that job it has been ideal. The esports titles run at hundreds of frames on a 1080p 144Hz panel, and the card is so quiet doing it that the case fans are the loudest thing in the room. It draws little enough that the 550W bronze supply already in the machine was fine, which kept the upgrade cheap. Where it shows its limits is the heavier single player releases, where 8GB means dropping textures a notch to keep the frame times smooth. He has not complained once and I doubt he would notice, but if I were buying for myself I would have found the extra money for a 12GB card. Eleven months of him hammering it and it has not skipped once. Four stars, and honest value for what it actually is.

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

    Runs cool

    Cons

8GB on a 128-bit bus at this price is not good enough

    Comment

The cooler is excellent and the card is quiet, so the two stars are about value rather than build. For what this costs you are getting a frame buffer that already forces texture compromises at 1080p in the newer releases, and a 128-bit bus that limits what GDDR7 can do about it. Frame times go ragged the moment the buffer fills, and no amount of DLSS fixes that. Nine weeks of it and I have not warmed to it at all. There are better ways to spend this money.

Used for: More than a year

    Cons

8GB was thin when I bought it and it is thinner now

    Comment

Has been completely reliable, never a crash, never a driver problem, and it still runs cold and silent. The only reason I would not buy it again is the frame buffer, which has aged faster than anything else about the card. Five stars for what it does, but buy more memory if you can stretch!

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

The ICE cooler is genuinely cold and silent

    Cons

8GB fills up in modern titles at 1080p, never mind 1440p

    Comment

Best cooler I have had on a card this cheap, sitting at 57C under a long session with the fans barely audible. Shame the chip behind it is limited by a frame buffer that was standard three generations ago.

  • FHFlorence H.2 July 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Very cold, very quiet, and a sensible size

    Cons

You will be managing the VRAM rather than the settings

    Comment

Bought as a stopgap for a 1080p build and taken on its own terms it is doing fine. The cooler deserves the ICE name. Under a two hour session the core reached 55C and the hotspot 64C, which is a nine degree delta and better than cards costing twice as much. Fans stop entirely at the desktop and I cannot hear them at all under load with the panel on. One 8-pin, 245mm long, no coil whine. What you have to accept is the memory. At 1080p with textures on high everything runs beautifully. Push to ultra in the recent releases and the buffer fills, at which point the frame times get spiky even though the GPU is sitting at 70 per cent utilisation. It is not a chip problem, it is a capacity problem, and it will only get worse as time goes on. Under a month in and I have not changed that view. Four stars because at the price I paid, and for the resolution I use, it is still a decent card.

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

    Silent, cold, and utterly stable

    Cons

    Only sensible at 1080p

    Comment

Not a single crash or driver oddity in daily use, which after my last card is a relief. The zero-RPM mode means it is silent for anything that is not a game, and under load the fans stay low enough that I have never been distracted by them. Just do not buy it expecting 1440p, because the 8GB will not have it!

  • LGLouie G.15 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Cons

Fine at 1080p and out of its depth anywhere above it

    Comment

It does what it says on the box and no more. Anything at 1440p means dropping textures to medium, which on a card with GDDR7 feels daft. Cool and quiet, and I have no complaint about the ICE cooler at all, but the memory holds the whole thing back.

  • FMFreddie M.4 June 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

    Cold, quiet, tidy build quality

    Cons

The 8GB buffer is a hard ceiling and it shows up as stutter, not lower frame rates

    Comment

This is a well made card wrapped around a specification that does not stand up. Thermally it is excellent. The ICE cooler holds the core at 56C with a hotspot delta under ten degrees, the fans stop below 50C, and there is no coil whine at any frame rate I have tested. Physically it is compact and it needs only one 8-pin, so it drops into almost anything. The problem is 8GB. In the games I play at 1080p ultra the buffer is already at its limit, and when it goes over the result is not a lower average frame rate but a stutter every few seconds that no setting labelled quality will fix. Turning textures to high solves it and looks worse than the card I upgraded from. GDDR7 on a 128-bit bus cannot make eight gigabytes into twelve. Two months of that and the stutter has become the thing I notice most. Three stars for good engineering aimed at the wrong target.
