Used for: 3–6 months
Smart enough for a client meeting
Looks like a normal bag, protects like a case twice the size
Used for: 6–12 months
Carries a 13 inch machine, a tablet, a charger and a paperback without looking stuffed, and nine months of daily use has not marked the nylon at all. The strap pad stays where you put it too!
Used for: 6–12 months
The suspended laptop pocket is worth the money
Not much room for anything bulky
The laptop sits in a floating pocket that touches nothing, which is the whole reason I bought it. Just do not expect to fit a lunch box in as well
Used for: 1–3 months
Pocket layout works for a commute
Blue is darker than the photos
Everything I carry has its own place, phone and cards in the front zip, charger and cable in the middle, laptop in the back. The blue is much deeper than it looked online, closer to navy, which I actually prefer for work but is worth knowing before you order one.
Used for: 1–3 months
Corner protection is the real thing
The strap hardware is noisy
Bought after dropping a laptop out of a cheap sleeve, and this is the opposite end of the scale. There is a moulded corner pad at each bottom edge and a raised lip so the machine never sits on the floor when you put the bag down. It looks like a plain blue messenger bag from the outside, which suits an office. The only thing that grates is the metal on the strap clips, which jangles as you walk. A wrap of tape sorted it.
Used for: More than a year
The nylon has not worn anywhere
This has been my everyday bag since the summer before last and the fabric still looks new. The nylon is the sort with a slight texture that hides scuffs, and two years of being set down on station platforms and office floors has not worn through the base. The zips are the same as the day it arrived, no stiffness, no missing teeth. The laptop compartment lining has kept a 13 inch machine free of scratches the whole time. It cost more than most bags this size and it has already outlasted three of them!
Used for: Less than a month
Built like it expects to be dropped
Heavier and thicker than a plain sleeve
Ordered this after reading about the corner armour and it is not marketing, you can feel the moulded pads through the fabric. Inside there is a suspended compartment that holds the laptop away from every edge, and a soft lining that has not left a mark on the lid. The 13 inch fit is exact. Outside there are two zipped pockets and a slim one at the back for a passport or a notebook, and every zip so far runs smoothly with a proper pull tab. The trade is thickness. Next to the sleeve it replaced this is a substantial thing, and it will not slide into an already full rucksack.
