  • HMHarry M.31 August 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Handles a huge Unreal scene and a browser full of documentation

    Cons

Memory training on the very first boot is a test of nerve

    Comment

Bought for Unreal work where the editor happily takes 50GB on its own before anything else opens, and this kit has completely removed that ceiling. Cooking lighting no longer means closing everything else first. The first boot deserves a warning. Two 48GB dual rank modules take a long time to train, and mine sat with the DRAM light on for well over a minute before anything appeared. I had the manual open at the CMOS clear section by then! It has posted normally ever since, and a cold start from the wall is around fifteen seconds. Stability has been perfect at the rated 5600 CL40 on an ASRock X670E, verified with a long OCCT run and a full pass of TestMem5. The spreaders are tall, so measure your cooler clearance, and the lighting is genuinely the best I have seen on memory.

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

96GB recognised immediately, no BIOS update needed

    Cons

    Very tall, check your cooler

    Comment

Posted at 5600 on the first attempt and Windows reported the full 96GB straight away

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Comment

The 96GB was for a Proxmox host that kept running out of headroom, and it now sits at about 60 percent used with eleven guests up. Boots clean every time!

  • AKAmelia K.10 August 2026

Used for: More than a year

    Comment

96GB sounded absurd when I ordered it and now the machine never thinks about memory at all. Two 48GB modules on an X670E, EXPO enabled, nothing else touched.

  • LPLeo P.22 July 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Two slots, 96GB, and the board trained it without argument

    Cons

Tall spreaders sit close to the cooler

    Comment

A 4K timeline in Premiere with a lot of effects used to be a stuttering mess and now it plays back. Memory use peaks around 70GB on the heaviest projects, which nothing smaller would have covered. Fitted to a Gigabyte X670E Aorus, EXPO profile one, no manual voltage. Most of a year now and it has never dropped the profile.

  • LGLouie G.12 July 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Fits in two slots so the other two stay empty

    Cons

    iCUE, as ever

    Comment

Straight into an Asus ProArt board, EXPO on, 96GB showing in Windows and no errors in the first memtest pass. Exactly what I wanted!

  • AEAva E.5 July 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Cons

5600 is the ceiling for 48GB modules and you can feel it

    Comment

Dual rank 48GB sticks will not clock like a 16GB pair, but for editing work the capacity matters far more than the last few hundred megatransfers.

  • LELouie E.2 July 2026

Used for: More than a year

    Cons

Will not run above the rated 5600 no matter what you try

    Comment

Tried nudging it to 6000 with more voltage and it would not train at all, so it lives at 5600 CL40 where it has never once faltered. It has sat at that setting for well over a year.

  • ICIsla C.28 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

The right answer if you need more than 64GB on a consumer board

    Cons

    Nothing about it is cheap

    Comment

Anyone doing serious virtualisation on a desktop platform runs into the same wall, four slots filled means slow memory, and 2x48 is the way around it. Mine went into an MSI X670E Carbon with a 7950X, EXPO enabled at 5600, and a full weekend of Karhu found nothing. The lighting is a bonus I did not want but the diffusers look good enough that I left them on a slow white pulse. Latency in AIDA is 68ns, which is what dual rank 48GB costs you.

  • SCSophie C.18 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Runs three virtual machines without breaking a sweat

    Cons

Heavier than any memory has a right to be

    Comment

Two Windows Server VMs and a Linux box all running at once, host still responsive. The spreaders have real weight to them, which makes fitting them feel oddly reassuring

  • HBHenry B.13 June 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

96GB in two slots, so no four stick compromise

    Cons

Boot takes noticeably longer than a 32GB kit

    Comment

The reason for buying 2x48 rather than 4x32 is that AM5 hates a full four slot layout, and this sidesteps the problem entirely. Two modules, slots two and four, and the board trains it without complaint. What you pay for that is boot time. First post after fitting sat black for a good ninety seconds and I genuinely thought I had killed the board! Now it is about twelve seconds from power on to the Windows logo, slower than the 32GB kit it replaced but hardly a hardship. Two months in, that is the only thing I would flag. Capacity is the point. I run three virtual machines, a photo library and a browser I refuse to tidy, and the machine has never touched the pagefile since. TestMem5 ran a full cycle clean at 5600 CL40 with EXPO on. The lighting is standard Corsair, which is to say very good and very reliant on iCUE.
