    Pros

EXPO tuned for AM5 and it shows

    Comment

Flare X5 is the AMD version of the Trident without the light bar, and it took 6000 CL30 on a B650E with no persuasion!

Never once dropped its EXPO profile

Sixty four gigabytes, no lighting, no problems, no thought required

    Pros

The sensible choice if you want 64GB on AM5 and no lighting

    Comment

Anyone building an AM5 machine for work rather than looks should have this on the shortlist. It is the same silicon as the flashier kits without the light bar and the price that goes with it. Mine runs 6000 CL30 with EXPO on an ASRock X670E and a 7950X, no manual settings at all, and a full night of OCCT found nothing. Sixty four gigabytes means a Windows VM, a Linux VM and a browser can all be open while a project compiles, and none of them fight. The modules are short, black and completely plain, which in a workstation is the point.

    Pros

Has run at rated speed on two different boards

    Comment

Started in a B650 build, moved into an X670E when I upgraded, and both boards took EXPO at 6000 CL30 without a single failed training attempt. That is the sort of thing that makes you buy the same brand again. Sixty four gigabytes has been comfortable for a workload that is half games and half a Windows VM running a build server, and the plain black spreaders still look exactly as they did new. Twenty months in, across two builds, and it has not skipped once.

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Dual rank 64GB that actually holds 6000 on AM5

    Cons

No lighting, if you wanted any

    Comment

A 2x32 dual rank kit running 6000 CL30 on a 9800X3D is exactly what I was after and it did it on the first attempt. Training took about fifty seconds that first time, which had me watching the DRAM light rather nervously, and every boot since has been quick. Karhu to 4000 percent coverage with no errors. AIDA shows 64ns latency and 92 GB/s read, which is better than the single rank 32GB kit it replaced on both counts. Nine days in, so time will tell, but it is a strong start.

    Comment

Fitted to a 7800X3D build where the point was capacity without height, and the Flare X5 sticks are barely taller than the slot latches. Six thousand CL30 came up with EXPO one on the first post and the machine has been faultless!

  • WNWillow N.9 June 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Low profile, so any cooler fits

    Cons

Dual rank at 6000 needed a small SOC voltage bump to be fully clean

    Comment

Very good kit that needed slightly more attention than the marketing suggests. Straight EXPO gave 6000 CL30 and it booted fine, but a long TestMem5 run found a handful of errors on the anta777 extreme config after about two hours. Nudging SOC voltage up a fraction and loosening tRFC slightly made it completely clean, and it has not produced an error since. That is a normal amount of tuning for dual rank 64GB on AM5, but if you expect to enable a profile and walk away you should know it might not be quite that simple. The low profile spreader is the reason I chose it over the Trident, an NH-D15 sits over the first slot with the fan at stock height and nothing touches! Eight months since that tuning session and it has stayed clean.
