Every cold boot takes about twelve seconds staring at a black screen before anything appears, and I still check the debug LED out of habit. Once Windows is up it is flawless and has been so since the day it went in.

Straight swap into an ASUS B760 and the rated profile would not hold. Dropping to 6800 and nudging the memory controller voltage sorted it, and the machine has been rock solid since. Faster than the 5600 kit it replaced by a margin you can feel in Lightroom exports, but I would not call this a plug and play kit unless your board is on the QVL.

Most boards with four DIMM slots struggle above 6400 and mine had already failed with a cheaper kit. This one came up at 7200 first go on the same board, so whatever binning Kingston are doing on the Renegade line is real. Whether the extra over a 6000 kit is worth double the money depends entirely on what you run.

Went into a Z790 Hero next to a Noctua NH-D15 and there is no clash at all, which was the thing I was most worried about. The profile came up at 7200 without a single manual setting and the first training pass took maybe eight seconds. Ran a full overnight memory test before trusting it with work files and it came back clean. Fast, tidy, no lights to disable.

Bought as the fast kit for a 13700K build and it is quick, but getting there was not a one click job. The advertised 7200 would post and then throw errors in a memory test after twenty minutes, so I settled at 7000 with a small controller voltage bump and it has been clean since. Whether that is the kit or the second DIMM slot on my board I genuinely cannot say. Training on a cold boot takes around fifteen seconds, which is long enough that you wonder if something has gone wrong the first few times. Where it matters the performance is superb and compile times dropped noticeably against the 6000 kit it replaced. Nine months of daily use later and it has not thrown another error at that speed. Four stars because a kit at this price should hit its number without hand tuning.

This kit has outlasted two motherboards now. It started in a 12900K build, moved into a 14700K when that board died, and both times it posted at its rated speed with nothing more than the profile enabled. Not one error in any of the overnight tests I have run on it, and I run one after every hardware change. The aluminium spreaders are still unmarked despite being pulled and refitted four times. It cost a lot at the time and, two years on, I have stopped regretting that.
