Boringly reliable, which is what I wanted
Weight and price are both hard to love
The one thing nobody told me is how much of this phone's appeal is the boring reliability. It has not crashed, it has not slowed down, it has not once needed a restart to find the wifi. Battery has been the pleasant surprise. On an ordinary day I am putting it down at bedtime with more than half left, and on a heavy day of navigation and tethering it still gets home. Twenty minutes on a fast plug is enough to rescue it if I forget overnight. The titanium finish has held up better than the steel one on my last phone, no dull patches at the corners where it goes in and out of a pocket. The two things I would change are the weight and the price, neither of which is going to change.
Used for: Less than a month
Came off a Pixel and the only thing I miss is the search button. Everything else has been an upgrade, particularly the screen outdoors!
Used for: 3–6 months
Sees out a working day with something left
The camera bump is enormous
Titanium hides the scuffs, the screen shrugs off sunlight, and the battery outlasts my working day

Readable in low winter sun, which nothing else I have owned was
Heavy, wide, and no fingerprint reader for gloved hands
Bought this to replace a phone that had done seven years and was down to about half a morning on a charge, so almost anything would have felt like an improvement. What I did not expect was how much of the difference would be in small things. The screen outdoors is the headline for me. Standing on a touchline in February with low sun straight into it, I could read a message without turning my back to the light. The camera in a dark room is the other one. Family photographs at my mother's, one lamp on, and everyone came out looking like themselves rather than a set of orange blobs. What I would warn about: it is heavy, it is wide, and the flat sides press into your fingers on a long call.
