Networking has been the standout, which is not something I usually say about a motherboard. Wi-Fi 7 gives me around 1.5Gbps two rooms away and has never dropped a session, and the wired port has been invisible in the good sense. Four stars only because the audio, while fine, is a step behind what ASUS put on boards at this price.

First press of the power button gave me nothing at all except a debug code sitting on memory, which turned out to be a stick that had not clicked fully into the far slot. Ten seconds of diagnosis instead of an hour of swapping parts. Since then it has been perfect. EXPO at 6000, four drives, and a 9800X3D that never pushes the VRM past the mid forties. Only awkward moment in the build was the top M.2, which sits tight against the IO shroud, so do that drive first.

Dropped a 9950X3D onto this and enabled the X3D Turbo profile, and the difference in the games that care about cache is obvious without touching anything else. Four M.2 slots, all tool free, and the top one is not buried under the graphics card for once. Straightforward build, no surprises anywhere, though the paper manual is thin

Spent ages comparing this against the XTREME and could not find a difference that would show up in my daily use, so the money went on memory instead. What you get here is the same VRM class, the same tool free storage, Wi-Fi 7 and the debug readout. What you give up is the second network port and some of the rear USB count, neither of which I have missed once. In use it has been exemplary, and that is seven weeks in. Memory at 6400 with EXPO on the first attempt, VRM in the low forties with a 9950X3D under a long render, all four drives cool under sustained writes, and not one failed post from cold. If you are staring at the price gap between the two, save your money.
