Used for: More than a year

    Pros

Still the most complete Z890 board you can buy

    Comment

Nothing on socket 1851 comes close on connectivity. Two fast wired ports, Thunderbolt, Wi-Fi 7 and five drives, and it has swallowed everything I have plugged into it without a single conflict in a year and a bit of use

  • FEFreya E.8 August 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

10G and 5G ports plus Wi-Fi 7, all working out of the box

    Cons

The rear IO shroud makes the top M.2 a squeeze

    Comment

Networking was the reason I chose this over the Master, and both wired ports have been faultless straight into a managed switch. Memory at 8400 needed nothing more than picking the profile. Getting the top M.2 in past the shroud took patience and a long screwdriver, which is the one design misstep. Seven months on, not one dropped link between the two of them.

  • SFSophie F.6 August 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

The screwless PCIe release is worth more than it sounds

    Comment

Pressing a button to release a four slot graphics card, rather than groping blind for a plastic tab, is the single best thing on this board. Everything else is excellent too, though I would have said the same about the Master for a lot less

  • OMOscar M.4 August 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Eight fan headers and the clearest curve editor I have used

    Cons

Aerial base is a fingerprint magnet

    Comment

Eight headers meant every fan and the pump got its own, and the BIOS curve editor is the clearest I have used on any brand. The magnetic aerial looks smart and shows every fingerprint you leave on it.

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

EZ-Latch means no screws anywhere in the build

    Comment

Not a single screw needed for the drives or the graphics card, which is a first!

  • DFDaisy F.20 July 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Cons

Two failed posts from cold and the debug code pointed at memory both times

    Comment

Difficult one to rate. The board is beautifully made, the layout is excellent, and when it runs it is faster than anything I have owned. But in the first three weeks it has failed to post from cold twice, both times with the debug code sitting on memory, and both times clearing after a CMOS reset. The kit is on the support list. I have tried it at the rated profile, at a manual 6400 and at stock, and the failures have happened at all three, which suggests firmware rather than the sticks. There is a newer BIOS out and I have flashed it, so I am hoping that is the end of it. Three stars because on a board this expensive the memory training should be boring. If the new firmware holds I will happily add a star, because everything else about it is genuinely first rate.

  • WCWillow C.19 July 2026

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

Nothing has gone wrong, through a processor swap and two graphics cards

    Cons

Fan control software is worse than the BIOS editor it duplicates

    Comment

Fourteen months of hard use and the only reason I have opened the case is to change other parts. It started with a 265K and now has a 285K in it, and the swap needed nothing but a BIOS update done from the flashback button before the old chip came out. Memory has stayed at 8000 across both, which I did not expect on a four slot board. VRM temperatures under a long Blender render sit in the mid forties and the heatsink is barely warm to the touch afterwards. My only real criticism is the Windows fan utility, which is slower and less capable than the curve editor in the firmware, and which insists on installing a background service. Set the curves in the BIOS and never install it.

  • HBHarry B.18 June 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Posted first time and found the Wi-Fi before I had the panel back on

    Cons

Big enough that cable management needs planning

    Comment

Straight out of the box into a new build and everything worked immediately, memory profile on, both network ports live, Thunderbolt recognised the dock without a driver. The board is wide enough that the 24 pin sits right against the case edge, so route it before you screw the board down. Two weeks in and I have not had to open the side panel again.

  • RFRosie F.16 June 2026

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

Has held an 8000 memory profile without a single failed boot

    Cons

RGB control is yet another background service

    Comment

Memory has never dropped its profile, not once, which is more than my last two boards managed. Lighting control needs another launcher running at startup, so I set it in the BIOS and moved on
