Daily use in my son's machine and it has not missed a beat. He plays the usual shooters at 1080p on a modest card and the processor has never been the reason for a bad session. Only thing I would say is that the stock behaviour runs it right up against its temperature limit, so put a proper tower cooler on it rather than the cheapest thing available.

This has been the best value part of the whole build by a distance. Six cores sounds thin in 2026 but for gaming it simply is not. Paired with a mid range card at 1440p I am GPU limited in everything I own, and the couple of titles that do lean on the processor still hold well above my monitor refresh. Boot to desktop in about twelve seconds. Four months in it does run hot, mine touches 92 in a long session, which is normal for this chip but worth knowing if you are buying a small cooler.

Put the build together on a cheap B650 board. Posted first time, EXPO on, no hunting through the BIOS. For a six core chip at this money, keeping up with everything I play feels almost unfair. Wish the cooler had come with it.

Bought this at launch and it has served well, but a year and a half on I can see the limit of six cores more clearly than I could then. Gaming is still fine, no argument there. What has changed is everything around the game. Recording, a voice client, a browser and the game together will now push all six cores properly and I have started seeing the odd frame time spike that was not there before. Still good value. Just be honest about how much you run at once.

I keep telling people this is the chip to buy if the budget is tight and you want a machine that will last. The reason is the socket. AM5 is going to take newer processors for a good while yet, so when six cores does eventually start to feel thin I can drop something bigger in without changing the board or the memory. That is worth more than the twenty percent a dearer chip would have given me today. In the meantime it plays everything, it boots quickly, and it has been rock steady at 6000 with EXPO. Nine weeks in and there has been nothing at all to report.

Second machine in the house built around this chip and it is the one I recommend to anyone asking what to buy on a budget. Gaming and homework in equal measure and it has not stumbled once. The integrated graphics also meant we could set Windows up before the card arrived.
