Nothing warns you when a configuration is only half finished

This runs the whole of a rural office where the nearest exchange is a joke and the only real option was mobile. Two SIMs on different networks, a rule that swaps if latency climbs, and staff who have no idea any of it is happening. A year and a bit in, the connection has been more reliable than the copper line ever was. The one thing worth saying is that the interface will happily let you build a configuration that half works, and there is no sanity check to tell you so.

Mounted on a ceiling in a warehouse office where nothing else could get a signal, and the aerials being internal made that a much tidier job than the box-with-whiskers alternative. Coverage across the floor is even, the failover works, and the whole thing has never needed a visit since it went up

Replaced a consumer 5G box that had spent its life falling over most weeks and needing the plug pulled. This has not fallen over once. The dual SIM setup was fiddly to get right, mostly because there are three separate pages involved, but once it was done it has simply stayed done. What sold me over the competition was the mounting. It is built to go outside, on a pole or a wall, with one cable carrying power and data, and that means the aerials end up where the signal is instead of behind a filing cabinet. Our throughput roughly doubled purely by moving the box eight feet.

We looked at cheaper 5G routers and the thing that decided it was being able to mount the unit where the signal is rather than where the desk is. Ours went on an outside wall under the eaves with a single cable back inside, and the difference between that and the same router on a windowsill was about three bars. Throughput is respectable rather than spectacular. On a good day we see something close to what the network gives a phone standing in the same spot, which is fair enough and rather the point. What I would say is that it wants a proper power supply run to it, and the injector is not exactly small, so plan the install before you order the ladder.
