Bought this for a two-storey office above a shop where the previous setup was a consumer router, a dumb switch and a pile of PoE injectors under a desk. The wall mount put all of it out of reach of feet and kettles, and the cabling now runs into one place instead of three. Over a year in, the things I would tell someone considering it: the fan is not silent under load, so do not put it in a room where anyone sits; the ports are underneath, which means unplugging by feel; and the update process takes the network down for a couple of minutes, so do it in the evening. None of that has stopped me specifying a second one for the other unit.

Took the gateway, the switch, the PoE injectors and two access points off the shelf and replaced the lot with one white slab on the plant room wall. The cabling is the tidiest it has ever been and the controller is on the device itself, no separate server humming away

Ran it in a converted barn where the walls are two feet of stone and the ceilings are high enough that ceiling-mount access points were never going to be cheap. Two of the PoE ports feed the aerials at either end and the wall unit does the rest. Client roaming between them is quick enough that a video call survives the walk from the office to the kitchen without a stutter!

The bit nobody mentions in the reviews is the display on the front. It shows throughput, the number of clients and which uplink is live, and it turns out to be genuinely useful when someone in the house says the internet is broken: you glance at the wall on the way past and know whether to believe them. Port count is the other reason to buy it. Enough PoE for the cameras and the aerials with room left over, and the whole thing draws less at the wall than the collection of separate boxes it replaced. The only thing I would change is that the ports are all on the underside, so you are working blind once it is on the wall.

Hardware is faultless and I want to be clear about that. The problem is that dual-band only, at this price, was not what I expected: everything in the house that wants the newer band is stuck on five. Six weeks in and I have a second access point plugged in to cover the gap, which rather defeats the point of buying an all-in-one in the first place.
