Charging behaviour is unchanged after heavy use
The case has picked up marks the finish does not hide
The charging pattern has not shifted since the day it arrived, which after this long is the thing worth telling people. Same Sunday charge, still at 40 per cent on Wednesday, and it has never once died on a walk. The case is another matter. Titanium marks, and on the darker finishes those marks show up as bright lines along the edges. Mine has three or four from door frames and one scaffold pole. It affects nothing at all, but if you want it looking new in a year, it will not be.

Battery holds up through a weekend of walking
Notifications need a serious cull on the first day
Two long days in the Dales with the tracking running and the map open more often than not, and it came home without needing a plug, which is what I bought it for. The thing to do first is turn almost everything off. Out of the box every app on the phone thinks your wrist is fair game and the first afternoon was one long buzz. 20 minutes in the settings fixed it and it has been calm ever since.

Notifications you can read without anybody noticing
A glance at the wrist in a meeting is not the same thing as pulling a phone out, and that alone has earned its keep in front of clients!

Replaced a running watch and a dress watch in one go
The plan was to stop wearing one watch for running and a different one for everything else, and this has done exactly that. The tracking is at least as good as the dedicated one it replaced, and it does not look like a running watch when there is a suit on. Setting it up took an evening because everything wants permission for something, but once that was done it has asked me for nothing since!

GPS is accurate enough to settle an argument
The strap it ships with is not the one you will keep
Walked a route I know to the metre and it came back within about 30 metres over 14 kilometres, which is better than the phone has ever managed, though it took a minute to find the satellites. The band it arrives with went into a drawer after the first week, far too warm for anything long.

The screen is astonishing outdoors
Genuinely heavy for the first while
Took a few days to stop noticing the weight on my arm, and now I only notice when it is off
Used for: 3–6 months
Swims, showers, sea, no bother at all
The speaker burbles for a minute afterwards
It has been in the sea, the pool and the shower and none of it has made the slightest difference to how it works
Used for: 6–12 months
Sleep tracking has never once convinced me
Everything else about it has been excellent, so treat this as a complaint about one screen. The sleep stages simply do not describe my nights. It puts me in deep sleep during the stretch I know I spent staring at the ceiling, and awake for a spell my wife says I snored through. The total hours are near enough right and I do use those. The rest of it I ignore, which is a shame, because it is the headline feature every year.
