The reason for this one rather than a cheaper managed switch is that it makes no noise whatsoever. Ours sits in a half-height rack 3 metres from a vocal booth and the room tone has not moved since it went in, which no fanned switch was ever going to manage. The interface is where the stars go missing. There is an AV view layered over a fairly traditional managed switch and the two do not always agree with each other. Change something in one place and the other still shows the old value until you reload the page. Once you learn which view wins it is fine, but the first afternoon was a lot of guessing at settings that ought to have been obvious.

Everything about it is good except the arithmetic. On paper twelve ports, in practice about 7 of them can carry a camera before the budget is spent, and the manual buries that figure somewhere you will not look. Five months in I have a second small injector strapped to the back of the rack, which rather defeats the tidiness I was after in the first place.

Hardware side, no complaints at all. It is silent, it is cool, it has held a Dante network together through a full season of shows without a single audio glitch, and the build is proper metal rather than the bent tin you get further down the range. The software is another matter entirely. Pages take an age to load, the session drops you out while you are reading, and there are two separate places to change the same setting that do not always agree with one another. I have got used to it, but I would not hand it to a volunteer and expect them to cope.

Ordered this to replace a fanned switch that was quietly ruining recordings in a small studio, and on that count it is a complete success. Nothing audible, nothing warm, nothing that needs venting. Getting it configured was less charming. The AV profile had the audio VLAN up in a few minutes, but the moment I wanted anything slightly non-standard, a second data VLAN and a management address on another subnet, I was into the traditional menus and reading forum posts by people as confused as I was. Four stars for now, and I suspect it becomes five once I stop poking at it.

Perfectly good switch that I bought on the strength of the AV name and now rather suspect I did not need. There is nothing here that a much cheaper managed switch would not have done for our two audio boxes, and I have paid a considerable premium for a wizard I used exactly once

Bought for a mobile rack that goes out to weddings and small conferences, and it has been the most reliable thing in the case. Boots in seconds, remembers its configuration, and the AV profile means I am not rebuilding QoS in a car park in the dark. Expensive for the port count, but the alternative was a fanned box standing next to a microphone!

The switching is fine and the Dante side has been solid, but the power budget caught me out badly. 4 PTZ cameras and two audio boxes and I was already at the ceiling, sitting there with two empty ports I cannot use for anything that needs power. Read the budget figure, not the port count.
