    Pros

The far end of the house is finally limited by the line

    Comment

Coming from an ISP box this is a different world and I should say that up front. Speed test at the far end of the house went from something in the twenties to something in the hundreds, which is the line rather than the router now, and that is the whole point. What keeps it off five stars is the software. The app wants an account before it will show you anything, and while the web page does not, the two do not show the same information, so I keep finding a setting in one that is missing from the other. The traffic meter in particular is on the app only. It works, it is quick, and I would buy it again, but somebody needs to decide which interface is the real one.

    Cons

Stands upright and will not lie flat

    Comment

Fast, tidy, and the only gripe is that it stands up rather than lying flat

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

The house no longer has a bad end

    Cons

Only four LAN ports and just one of them is the quick one

    Comment

We went from a five-year-old router that had started needing a weekly reboot to this, and the thing I noticed first was not speed at all, it was that the house stopped having a bad end. The back bedroom used to sit at one bar; it now sits at full and streams whatever it likes. Ten months in and it has not been power cycled once. It runs warm on top, warm enough that I would not stack anything on it, but never hot. The web interface has everything I need, the app is optional, and the parental scheduling is free rather than dangled behind a trial. If I am being picky the four LAN ports feel a bit mean for the money, and one of them being the fast one means you have to think about which device gets it.

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

    Handles forty devices without blinking

    Cons

A big black wedge with nowhere to hide

    Comment

Replaced the router the ISP dropped through the door, mostly because the old one could not handle more than about fifteen things being connected at once. This has forty-odd on it between the phones, the lights, the plugs and the cameras and does not care. Setup was a phone job, ten minutes, and the old SSID name carried over so nothing had to be reconnected!

  • JNJack N.11 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Comment

Bought it mainly for the wired ports and the fact that one of them runs faster than gigabit, because the NAS sits next to it and the desktop is one room over. That link now does what it should and backups finish while I am still in the room. The wireless side has been a bonus rather than the reason. Everything in the house connects, everything stays connected, and I have not had to explain to anyone why the internet is slow. The router itself is a big black wedge and looks like it belongs in a server room, but ours lives in a cupboard with the door off, so I do not much care.

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

One unit covered three storeys when everyone said mesh

    Cons

Four LAN ports runs out faster than you would think

    Comment

We bought this when we moved into a house with solid internal walls and a converted loft, having been told by three people that we would need a mesh. We did not. One unit in the middle of the ground floor covers all three storeys, and the loft office, which was supposed to be the problem, sits at full signal all day. Two years on I can say the things that only show up with time. It has never needed a scheduled reboot. Firmware updates arrive perhaps four times a year and install overnight. It runs warm and always has, but nothing has degraded. The one genuine irritation is the port count: four sockets sounds like plenty until the printer, the NAS, the console and the telly are all wired, and then you are buying a switch anyway.

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Cons

Runs warm, and the status light is dazzling at night

    Comment

The reason I bought this over the mesh options was that our house is a bungalow and one good router should be enough. It is. Signal reaches the far bedroom and out to the patio, and the whole family can be on it in the evening without anybody noticing anybody else. Four months in, the one thing I would flag is heat. It stands upright with vents on the top and it is genuinely warm to touch after a busy evening, so it needs air around it and not a shelf in a cupboard. Mine is on an open sideboard and has been fine. The other small thing is that the status light is bright white and faces into the room, and there is a setting to turn it off which I found only after three weeks of it annoying me at night.

    Pros

One box does the whole place

    Cons

No wall mounting option at all

    Comment

Covers the whole bungalow from one box, which is all I asked!

  • JCJack C.5 June 2026

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

Genuinely quick when it is behaving

    Cons

Drops the top band and wants a reboot to get it back

    Comment

When it works it is very good and I want that on record. The trouble is that ours has developed a habit of dropping the 6GHz band, not the whole router, just that one band, and the only cure is a reboot. It happens perhaps twice each month, always in the evening, and always when someone is halfway through something. Firmware updates have changed the behaviour but not fixed it. For a router at this price I expected to set it up and forget it, and instead there is a plug I know to pull.
