Fine camera for the money and the swivel is more useful than it sounds, but two things stop it being five stars. The microphone is only good enough for a quiet room, and anything closer than arm's length to the lens goes soft, which makes it useless for showing a small part on a call.

Ordered this for a home office that faces north and has one small window, which is the situation every webcam review seems to ignore. In that room, with the ceiling light on and nothing else, it produces a picture that looks like a person rather than a shadow puppet. There is noise if you go looking for it in the corners, and the frame rate drops a little in the gloom, but nobody on a call has commented and the last camera had people asking if I was in a cave. The swivel earns its place too. Pointing it at a colleague sitting beside me takes a second and does not involve unclamping anything. Four stars rather than five for the microphone, which is present rather than good, and for a fixed focus minimum distance that means anything closer than about a foot goes soft.

Sits on top of a monitor and swivels a full turn, which sounds like a gimmick until you need to show somebody what is on the bench behind you. Picture in daylight is genuinely sharp and the colours are natural rather than that oversaturated look cheap cameras go for. In a dim room it gets noisy and the frame rate drops, which is the usual compromise. No software needed for the basics, which is why it is up here rather than in a drawer.

Bought to replace a webcam that spent every call hunting in and out of focus on my face, and this one locks on and stays there. The swivel is the unexpectedly useful part. On a support call I can spin it round to point at the machine I am talking about rather than describing it, and spin it back. It clamps to a thin monitor bezel with a hinge that grips properly rather than sliding down. Microphone is the weak spot, as it always is. It picks up the room, the keyboard and the boiler, so a headset still does the talking. Low light is workable with a lamp on and grainy without one.
