We had a copper 15 metre lead going to the meeting room screen and it was already marginal at 4K, dropping to a black frame every time somebody joined a call. This replaced it and went twice the distance instead, straight up the wall and over the ceiling grid. The difference on the wall plate side is that the fibre body is barely thicker than a shoelace, so it will go where the old one physically would not. Terminations feel light in the hand and I did wonder about them, but nothing has budged with the room in use most of the week. One thing to plan for: it wants powering from the source socket, and not every laptop dock supplies enough.

Three stars and most of them are for the picture, which when it works is exactly what I paid for: a 4K feed at 120 to a projector forty metres away with nothing in the middle. The problem is the wake-up. Turn the projector on first and you get a black screen until you unplug the source end and put it back. Turn the source on first and it is fine. That is a known trait of optical leads apparently, but nobody says so before you have pulled one through a ceiling, and reaching the source end here means moving a rack. I have got around it with a plug order I now follow religiously, and once it is up the picture never wavers. Still, at this money I wanted to plug in and forget.

Bought this to replace a chain of two shorter leads and a booster box that had been limping along in the lecture room for years, and the difference is that there is now nothing in the middle to go wrong. One cable, wall plate to ceiling mount, no power supply hanging off a bracket. Weight is the underrated part. The old copper run sagged enough that I had to cable-tie it to the tray every metre; this one is thin and light enough to sit in the tray on its own, and it turns a much tighter corner without complaining. Eight months of daily use, two lectures every morning and a laptop swapped in and out constantly, and I have not had one call about the projector since. That is the measure that matters.

Ours goes from a media cupboard, along a beam and down a pole to a screen at the far end of a barn conversion. Forty metres in one piece with no repeater and it drops in at full resolution every single time the amp is switched on. Thin enough to run inside the same trunking as the speaker wire, which was the deciding factor. Nothing else I looked at would have gone round that corner!
