Runs from a rack in the plant room to a wall-mounted display showing the building system. Locks on at boot with no fiddling, and a year and a half on it has never needed a soul to touch it. The lead is stiffer than the fibre HDMI leads though.

Set this up for a flight sim rig where the machine sits under the stairs and the three screens are in the spare room above. The cable goes up through the same hole as the mains and comes out behind the desk with metres to spare. What I was worried about was whether the display would go to sleep and refuse to come back, because that is what my old adapter chain did. It does not. Switch the monitor off, switch it on, picture is there before the desk lamp has warmed up!

Four stars, and the missing one is about the plugs rather than the cable. The DisplayPort latches on these are the flimsiest I have come across: the little sprung tab feels like it will shear off if you pull the release at an angle, and on a cable this expensive that is the part I want to be overbuilt. Otherwise it does exactly what it says. Thirty metres from the server cabinet to a desk monitor at 4K, no shimmer, no dropouts, and no need for a repeater box on the wall.

Bought for a temporary video wall at a trade stand and it went in with no more thought than a normal lead. Thirty metres of it coiled behind a pillar, one end at the laptop, other at the panel, up at full resolution in seconds. Two shows on the same lead now and nothing has needed a second thought!
