Only had it a fortnight so treat this as a first impression. The pull went fine, the picture came up at the first attempt and there is nothing to complain about on the performance. What did surprise me is how little the cable weighs and how easily it wants to spring back into a coil. Clip it down as you go or it will fight you.

The reason I went fibre rather than another copper lead with a booster is that the boosters keep dying. Two in three years, both of them tucked in a ceiling void where getting to them means a ladder, a torch and an afternoon. This has nothing in the middle to fail. The intelligence, such as it is, sits inside the plug at the source end where I can actually reach it, and it takes its power from the same socket as the media player. Since it went in, the museum display it feeds has come on with the building every morning and gone off with it every evening, and I have not had to think about it once. That is worth the extra over a copper lead and a box.

Bought this for a loft cinema where the projector is at the back of the room and the rack is downstairs in a cupboard, which is a fifty metre round trip once you follow the joists. Nothing copper was going to do 8K over that, and even the 4K attempts I had made with a booster were flaky whenever the amp changed mode. With this it just works. Console at 120, films at 24, and the switch between them happens without a black screen sitting there for five seconds while everything renegotiates. The reason it is not five stars is the source end power. Mine would not light up from the amp's HDMI port at all, so there is now a phone charger cable-tied to the back of the rack purely to feed a cable. It works, but it is inelegant.

Rigid plug bodies need a deeper back box than you expect

Ten months in a hotel function room and the picture has been perfect every single time somebody has plugged a laptop into the wall plate, which is the only test that matters in a room like that. My gripe is with the ends rather than the middle. The plug bodies are long and rigid, so where the cable comes out of the back box there is a good ten centimetres that will not bend at all, and that forced a deeper box than I had planned for. If you are fitting into an existing plate, measure the depth before you order, because it is not the cable diameter that catches you out.

Runs from a rack room to the display wall in our reception, past a lift motor and a fluorescent bank that used to put a shimmer through the old lead. Being glass rather than copper, none of that reaches it any more. The picture is simply clean, all day, every day.
