The listing photos do not tell you everything, so here are a few notes after a week with it. The printed panel is not raised, it is part of the weave, so there is no edge to peel and no sticker feel to it. The case grips the phone all the way round the buttons rather than clipping at four points, and it went on with a click rather than a struggle. It is slippery on a car dashboard and grippy in the hand, which is an odd combination but the right way round. Nothing rattles.

Came to this from a chunky armoured case and the difference in the pocket is enormous. The phone is a phone again rather than a brick, and I have stopped taking it out of the case to use a card reader because the magnet does not interfere with contactless. Wireless charging works through it on both pads in the house with no lining up required. The compromise is the edges, which sit almost flush with the screen. I have added a glass protector and stopped worrying about it. Nine months and the phone is unmarked.

Two stars and it pains me, because the design is the best thing I have had on a phone. The problem is the corners. It is so thin that a drop from waist height onto a pavement put a chip in the phone's frame, and the case itself was unmarked. It protects the back and the camera and very little else. Buy it because it looks good, not because it will save anything.

Ordered this as a present for someone who had been carrying a phone with no case at all, on the grounds that anything is better than nothing. It won them over, which I did not expect. The weave has a texture that stops the phone sliding off the arm of a sofa, the buttons are covered but click properly, and the camera ring stands proud enough that the lenses never touch a table. The magnet holds a wallet without dropping it in a coat pocket. It is a lot for a phone case, though the design is the reason you are here!

The pixel art is what got my attention and the thinness is what kept it on the phone. It is barely thicker than a screen protector and the phone still slides into a jeans pocket, which every silicone case I have owned failed at. MagSafe pull is strong: it holds on a car vent over speed bumps and charges through without warming up. A year and a half on, the printed panel has faded very slightly at the corner where my thumb sits. Everything else is as it came.

The reason I went for this over a plain aramid case was purely the artwork, and I want to be honest that it is the artwork you are paying for. As a case it does the basics very well. It is thin enough that the phone still fits a bike mount, the buttons click through properly, and the camera surround is tall enough that the lenses never touch the table. The magnet is as strong as the official ones and holds a stand at an angle without creeping downwards. Where it falls short is the same place every thin case does. The screen sits about level with the case edge, so a face-down drop is between you and your screen protector. There is also no help for the corners, which is where phones actually land. Still four stars. It is the first case I have owned that I look at rather than through.

Three stars is a compromise between how it looks and what it costs. The case is beautifully made and the print is sharp, with none of the fuzziness you get on cheaper printed cases. It is also thinner than anything else I have tried, which is a genuine engineering achievement. But it is a phone case with a picture on it, and the picture is the only reason it costs what it does. Four months on I still like looking at it, and I still wince slightly when I remember what I paid.

Everything you have read about the finish is true, so I will use the space for the things that annoyed me instead. The button covers are stiff. They work, but the volume rocker needs a deliberate push rather than a tap, and after five months they have not softened at all. On a phone you pick up fifty times before lunch that adds up. The second thing is the magnet ring. It is strong on a charger and strong on a wallet, but it is also strong on the metal clasp of a bag, and I have twice pulled the phone out to find a coin stuck to the back of it. Neither would stop me buying it again. The case has kept the back glass perfect and the print still looks like it did.
