The clear panel arrangement means you see the whole loop rather than a radiator hidden behind a shroud, and it turns out that watching coolant move is oddly satisfying at eleven at night. Underneath the theatre it does the job: 4K at maximum on everything I own, the processor pinned at 57 through a long session, and fans that never rise enough to notice. My old machine sounded like it was about to take off doing half as much, though it was admittedly on its last legs.

It went on the desk on a Tuesday and has not been moved or opened since. A year and a half on it still loads faster, runs cooler and stays quieter than any machine my friends have put together in that time, and the only thing I have done to it is blow the filters out twice. A front USB-C port would be the one addition!

Bought it as the last machine I would need for a good long while and that is exactly how it has behaved. A year and a half of daily use, a handful of heavy weekends, and it has never once given me a reason to open the case or think about a component. The only thing I do is rinse the filters when I remember, which is not often enough.

Came over from a machine I had built myself and the honest surprise was the cable management. Mine was tidy by amateur standards; this is on another level, with every run behind the tray combed flat and tied at intervals, and the loop tubing cut so precisely that there is no strain on a single fitting. The part I would change is the software. There are four separate utilities on first boot doing overlapping jobs, one of which wanted an account before it would let me set a fan curve, and between them they added a noticeable delay to startup. An hour of uninstalling later the machine boots in about 9 seconds and behaves itself entirely.

Three stars because of where the heat goes rather than how much of it there is. The radiator sits at the front, so the air coming into the case is already warm by the time it reaches the drive cage and the board. Under a long session the storage sits in the high 50s where the same drive in my old machine never passed 40. It has not caused a problem and I do not expect it to, but on a machine with a loop this good the layout undoes some of the benefit. The temperatures are at least consistent, and everything else about it is excellent: silent, beautifully built, and quicker than I have any use for.

Worth knowing before you order what the memory arrangement actually is. Mine came as one module rather than a matched pair, so it was running single channel out of the box, and on this processor that cost me a good 8 per cent in exactly the games that stress it. Adding a second stick meant coming at the slot from under the front radiator, which on a machine with a filled loop is not a five minute job. I got there, and the difference was worth the afternoon, but the builder could have fitted two smaller modules and nobody would have noticed. Everything else has been exemplary. Eight months in, the loop is dry and clear, the case has not collected the dust I expected, and the fans have never gone above a level I would call background. Four stars, comfortably.
