Whisper quiet for something this quick
Only two USB ports on the front
Replaced a machine that sounded like a hairdryer whenever anything loaded, and this one is genuinely hard to hear from a metre away. Six weeks in and the loudest thing in the room is the keyboard, though that is on me. Looks the part on the desk too!
Used for: 3–6 months
Handles a game and a stream at once without a wobble
Fan curve out of the box is far too eager
Streaming was the reason for buying and it does that without breaking stride, encoding on the card while the game sits at 4K and nothing drops. The processor barely notices a second workload. The one thing I changed on day one was the fan profile. As delivered it ramps the moment anything touches the processor, so a browser opening would set the front three off. Ten minutes in the software and a gentler curve later, it is nearly silent at desk level and the temperatures have not moved more than a couple of degrees. Fine once sorted, but it should not ship like that.

Nothing has skipped a beat
Dust filters need doing more often than you would think
A year and a half on, and the only maintenance it has asked for is a filter rinse every month or so. Still boots in seconds, still runs everything I own at the top settings, still quieter than the desk fan

Not one crash in all the time I have had it
Still the fastest thing anyone in my house has sat at!

The parts themselves are the real thing
Assembly quality nowhere near the standard the rest of it sets
Two stars, and none of them are about performance, which is exactly what you would expect from these components. It is everything around them. The side panel had a smear of thermal paste on the inside of the glass. One of the top fan screws was missing altogether and another was cross threaded. Behind the tray the cabling is not so much managed as stuffed, with a bundle pressing against the back of the motherboard tray hard enough that the panel bowed when I refitted it. The front intake filter was already sitting crooked in its rails. None of that stops it running, and run it does, but a machine at this end of the range is sold on the care that goes into it, and the care simply is not there.
Used for: 6–12 months
Cool and composed even in a warm room
The lighting software wants an account before it will do anything
Ten months in, and the loft office it lives in gets uncomfortably warm in summer without the machine ever complaining. Under a long session the processor settles around 65 and stays there. The lighting software is the only sour note

The power supply is the weak link in an otherwise serious machine
Three stars from somebody who still uses it daily, so take the complaint in proportion. The machine is fast and it has never once fallen over. What spoils it is the power supply. The builder specified a unit that is adequate on paper and nothing more, and with the card boosting hard the coil whine sits right in the range you cannot ignore in a quiet room. Swapping it for something with a proper margin took the noise away completely, which tells you where it was coming from. That is a component I should not have had to think about on a build at this level. Everything downstream of that is excellent. 18 months on it still runs anything at 1440p without me touching a setting, temperatures are sensible, and the cable work inside is genuinely neat.

Raw speed is not in question
Preinstalled bloat and a stingy single fan up front
Quick, obviously, but the build feels like it was costed to the penny once you are past the headline parts. One intake fan at the front for a case with four mounting points, and a desktop full of trial software on first boot. Nothing that stops it working. Everything that stops it feeling premium.
