Knocked the voltage offset down and dropped about 40W without losing any performance worth measuring. Card now peaks at 63C with a hotspot delta of around nine degrees, which is a good sign the paste job is decent. Fans idle at zero and only wake once you are properly loading it. Two months in and it has held that curve without complaint.

Came out of the box and straight into a build that needed the bottom PCIe slot free, and it just about worked. Runs at 65C core under a long session with the fans still under 1400rpm. Nothing about it feels like a compromise except the physical size, which is considerable! The first few weeks have thrown up nothing else worth mentioning.

No argument with the hardware. It is quick, the 16GB across a 256-bit bus means textures are never the thing you turn down, and it sits around 68C in a case with two intakes. The software is where it went wrong. My custom fan curve reverted to default on the first two reboots, and the tuning page kept reporting the card as unsupported until I did a clean install with the display driver uninstaller. Once it settled it has been fine for the fortnight since, but a fresh buyer should not have to know about DDU. Four stars, the card deserves five.

For what it does at 1440p this is very hard to beat, and the 16GB buffer means the settings menu is a formality rather than a negotiation. My one gripe is a thin whine when a menu screen runs unlocked. Capping the frame rate at 141 makes it disappear entirely, so it is easily managed, but it is there. Nine months of it now and the whine has not got any louder.
