Wind ruins the mic on any outdoor call

Second pair in the house now, the first being my partner's, and the difference between them and the cheap pair I used before is mostly the microphone. On a windy walk to the station it still picks up gusts badly, anything over about 15mph, so calls outdoors are a lost cause. Indoors it is spotless. Four months in the earpads have taken on a slight sheen where my jaw sits, which I suspect is permanent.
